This app, "HC And - When mother or father has cancer," helps prepare children aged 4-7 for hospital visits related to a parent's cancer diagnosis. Developed in partnership with the Oncology Department at Odense University Hospital, hospitalized children and their families, and 10:30 Visual Communication, it aims to ease anxiety by explaining complex medical terms in a child-friendly way.
The app uses a child's voice and interactive animations to present information in a playful, engaging format suitable for tablets, mobile phones, and touch screens. Recognizing that young children can be overwhelmed by information, HC And presents its content in short, easily digestible segments.
This interactive learning tool features seven short stories addressing common questions about cancer, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Hospital staff can use it to build a shared understanding with young patients and their families.
HC And is available as a free download.
