The Rune Giant, a new Epic card in Clash Royale, shakes up the arena! Unlocked at Jungle Arena (Arena 9), players can currently grab one free from the shop as part of the launch offer (until January 17th, 2025). After that, it’s chests or the in-game shop. Mastering the Rune Giant is key to victory; this guide explores its strengths and showcases top-performing decks.
Clash Royale Rune Giant Overview
The Rune Giant is an Epic card targeting enemy Towers and defensive buildings. At tournament level, it boasts 2803 Hitpoints and medium movement speed, dealing 120 damage to buildings – significantly more than an Ice Golem, but less than a Giant.
Its real power lies not in its tankiness, but its unique Enchant effect. Upon deployment, it enchants two nearby troops, boosting their damage output on every third hit. This buffing ability makes it incredibly potent in specific deck combinations.
Costing only four elixir, it’s easily cycled without depleting your resources. Fast-attacking troops like the Dart Goblin maximize its effect, while slower units can still leverage it strategically. Imagine a Hunter swiftly eliminating a Lava Hound before it reaches your Tower, thanks to the Rune Giant's buff—powerful!
However, the Rune Giant lacks the Hitpoints to be a solo win condition like the Golem. It shines as a support troop, distracting enemies and absorbing tower hits while your other units attack.
Best Rune Giant Decks in Clash Royale
These decks highlight the Rune Giant's versatility:
- Goblin Giant Cannon Cart
- Battle Ram 3M
- Hog EQ Firecracker
Details on each follow below.
Goblin Giant Cannon Cart
While Goblin Giant decks often feature Sparky, this variant uses the Cannon Cart alongside the Rune Giant.
This beatdown deck boasts strong defense. The Rune Giant buffs the Cannon Cart and Goblin Giant (including the Spear Goblins), creating powerful pushes. The Elixir Collector fuels your offensive capabilities, while the Lumberjack and Rage provide additional boosts. However, its lack of air defense makes it vulnerable to Lava Hound decks. This deck utilizes the Royal Chef Tower Troop.
Battle Ram 3M
The Three Musketeers, once meta, find renewed strength with the Rune Giant. This deck plays like a Pekka Bridge Spam strategy.
Early game pressure comes from the Bandit, Royal Ghost, and Evo Battle Ram. The Elixir Collector builds an elixir advantage. The Three Musketeers are held for the Double Elixir phase. Defense relies on the Rune Giant and Hunter combo, with the Evo Zap supporting Battle Ram pushes. This deck uses the Tower Princess Tower Troop.
Hog EQ Firecracker
A top-tier Hog Rider deck gets even better with the Rune Giant.
Gameplay mirrors the standard Hog EQ Firecracker, but the Rune Giant replaces the Valkyrie or Mighty Miner. The Rune Giant's buff significantly enhances the Firecracker's damage, creating a potent defensive and offensive combo. The Earthquake provides late-game tower damage. Evo Skeletons handle defensive needs. This deck uses the Tower Princess Tower Troop.
The Rune Giant adds exciting strategic depth to Clash Royale. Experiment with these decks and personalize them to find your winning strategy.
