Crunchyroll, the anime streaming giant, has just released the critically acclaimed rhythm roguelike, Crypt of the NecroDancer, on Android. Now titled "Crunchyroll: NecroDancer," this beat-driven adventure challenges players with its unique gameplay.
Originally developed by Brace Yourself Games and released on PC in April 2015, the game previously saw brief appearances on iOS (2016) and Android (2021). This Crunchyroll release, however, brings a significantly enhanced experience to both iOS and Android platforms, boasting a wealth of new content.
What's Crypt of the NecroDancer About?
Players step into the shoes of Cadence, a treasure hunter's daughter searching for her missing parent within a rhythmically challenging crypt. The roguelike nature ensures every playthrough is unique. With 15 playable characters, each boasting distinct styles and challenges, players must move and attack in time with Danny Baranowsky's original soundtrack. Successfully navigating procedurally generated dungeons requires precise timing; miss a beat, and you're vulnerable. Enemies range from dancing skeletons to hip-hop-loving dragons, adding to the game's quirky charm.
This Isn't Just a Basic Port
Crunchyroll and Brace Yourself Games have significantly upgraded the mobile version. Crypt of the NecroDancer on mobile includes remixes, new content, and even crossover skins featuring characters from the popular anime series Danganronpa. The game also features cross-platform multiplayer and mod support. Further expanding its appeal, DLC featuring Hatsune Miku and the Synchrony expansion is slated for release later this year.
Crunchyroll subscribers can access this enhanced rhythm roguelike immediately on the Google Play Store. Be sure to check it out!
