Freedom Wars Remastered plunges players into a dystopian future where they, known as Sinners, battle monstrous creatures called Abductors to safeguard humanity. A key aspect of enhancing your combat prowess in this action-packed game is through upgrading your weapons and accessories. Upgrading not only boosts the base stats of your weapons but also allows for the addition of modules that offer various enhancements.
Fortunately, players can start upgrading their weapons early in the game, eliminating the need to solely rely on mission rewards or enemy drops. This comprehensive guide will walk you through the process of upgrading weapons and accessories in Freedom Wars Remastered.
How To Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered
To begin upgrading weapons in Freedom Wars Remastered, you need to progress through the main storyline until you reach Level 002 Code Clearance. At this point, as a CODE 2 Sinner, you'll unlock the Facility Management Function accessible via the Personal Responsibility Portal. Head over to the Weapon Development Facility to manage all your weapons. Upgrading requires specific resources along with your hard-earned Entitlement Points. However, you can reduce these costs by enlisting the help of a Citizen. Various Citizens are available, each offering different reduction rates based on their Facility Manager Aptitude. While it might seem complex at first, the system becomes intuitive once you start using it.
Before finalizing an upgrade, you'll see a preview of how your weapon's stats will change. The Weapon Development Facility also enables you to add Elements and experiment with Modules and Module Slots. To elevate a weapon to a higher Grade, you must first purchase the necessary permit from the Claim Entitlement tab on the Window of Liberty.
Should You Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered?
During the early stages of the main story, missions don't typically yield high-Grade weapons as rewards. Although you can buy weapons and other combat items from Zakka in The Warren, most are restricted to Grade Level 1, making weapon upgrades almost indispensable. One of the CODE 3 Exams demands that you claim higher Grade Development Facility Permits, which then allow you to upgrade any weapon to a higher Grade and continue using it effectively. This also means you can donate Low-Grade weapons obtained during missions, which reduces your sentence and earns you additional Entitlement Points.
The first upgrade at the Weapon Development Facility unlocks the "In Search of the Strongest Weapon" trophy/achievement, with further achievements linked to the upgrading system, making it particularly enticing for trophy hunters. The substantial difference in damage between weapons of different Grades strongly motivates players to invest time in enhancing their gear.
Finally, later in the game, you'll gain access to the Ability Development Facility through Facility Management, further expanding your upgrade options.
