Despite efforts to keep details under wraps by requiring players to sign NDAs, leaks of EA's upcoming untitled Battlefield game have surfaced online. The leaks, consisting of numerous videos and screenshots, reveal what participants of the game's closed playtesting have experienced.

The leaked footage appears to corroborate the "modern" setting that Vince Zampella had previously hinted at, setting it apart from other Battlefield titles. A quick browse through the Battlefield subreddit showcases various firefights, alongside glimpses of the game's destructible environments and new mechanics such as the ability to hang off vehicles and drag wounded teammates to safety.

Surprisingly, EA has taken a relatively relaxed approach to these leaks, despite the fact that sharing such content violates confidentiality agreements. Typically, game publishers are quick to issue takedowns of leaked early footage, which often features incomplete elements. However, EA's response has been notably subdued this time around.

This leniency might be influenced by the positive reception the leaks have received from fans, contrasting sharply with the lukewarm response to Battlefield 2042. Enthusiasts have expressed optimism about the new game, with comments such as, "I am scared to say that but this game is shaping up very damn well. I hope there are no catches…" and "The animations of the weapons moving around while running / doing anything look better than 2042 to me." Other players have praised the game's potential, citing impressive explosions, bullet effects, and destructible environments, even in its pre-alpha state.

The sounds and destruction in the alpha version have also received accolades, with one player noting, "I can't get over how good the sounds and the destruction look at alpha."

EA anticipates launching the new Battlefield game within the fiscal year 2026, which spans from April 2025 to March 2026. The game's first official unveiling last month confirmed the return of a traditional, single-player, linear campaign, a feature that was notably absent from the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042 and has been eagerly anticipated by the community.
