"Lhea and the Word Spirit: A Roguelite Exploring Life and Death"

Author: Daniel May 13,2025

Solo developer Jo Drolet has unveiled an exciting new single-player roguelite titled *Lhea and the Word Spirit*, where players embark on a quest to guide lost souls through mysterious worlds. As you navigate the enigmatic In-Between, you'll tread the delicate boundary between life and death, guided by an ancient Word Spirit. The game's minimalist visuals are complemented by an innovative "timeline battle system," making each journey uniquely engaging.

In *Lhea and the Word Spirit*, players can manipulate the timeline of battles to advance, utilizing a variety of enchanted rings that can be equipped and upgraded. Customizing these rings grants access to different spells and helps unlock hidden secrets, deepening the mystery of the In-Between. The roguelite format ensures that no two runs are the same, as you adapt strategies to navigate procedurally generated realms.

Jo Drolet shares, *“I wanted to create this charming minimalistic world about life and death with the hope that players lose track of time and feel enspirited by this dance between unexpected discoveries, strategy flow, and heartwarming music.”*

Mark your calendars for the launch of *Lhea and the Word Spirit* in August. Can't wait that long? A demo will be available during Steam Next Fest from June 9th to the 16th.
