The French studio Don't Nod, renowned for their work on Life is Strange, has just launched the first chapter of their latest narrative-driven adventure. Players can now immerse themselves in Tape 1, with Tape 2 set to be available at no additional cost to all buyers starting April 15.
First unveiled in 2023, this game delves into the story of a tight-knit group of friends whose lives were mysteriously upended during the summer of 1995. Fast forward 27 years, and the specters of that fateful summer reemerge, unleashing unforeseen and chilling repercussions on the group.
Drawing heavily from classics like It, Yellowjackets, and I Know What You Did Last Summer, the game weaves a compelling tapestry of nostalgia intertwined with psychological thriller elements. Don't Nod has opted to release the game in two distinct parts: Bloom and Rage. As of February 18, players can explore the first half of this eerie narrative.
The eagerly awaited second installment, dubbed "The Tape," is scheduled for release on April 15. Initially planned for a March launch, the delay was implemented to guarantee a more refined gaming experience.
With the review embargo now lifted, OpenCritic has aggregated an average critic score of 74/100, signaling a promising debut for this enthralling mystery.
