Marvel Ban Woes Mount as Hackers Flout Clampdown

Despite a Season 1 crackdown, Marvel Rivals players continue to risk account bans by using mods. Since the game's successful December launch, custom skins created through mods have been popular, transforming characters like Iron Man into Vegeta and Mantis into a goth. One mod even changes Jeff the Land Shark into Pochita from Chainsaw Man.

NetEase, the developer, implemented asset hash checking to restrict mods, reiterating that their terms of service prohibit mods, cheats, and other unauthorized third-party software. While warnings were issued, a workaround is now circulating online, requiring more steps but remaining accessible to many PC players.

A modder, Prafit, shared a workaround on Nexus Mods, advising users to proceed "at your own risk." Prafit noted that NetEase hasn't issued permanent bans yet, but the uncertainty remains.

New mods have emerged, leveraging the addition of the Fantastic Four. Ercuallo's mod, transforming Mister Fantastic into Luffy from One Piece, has already seen over 5,000 downloads in just two days.

The community awaits NetEase's response to this continued modding activity. While no confirmed bans for mod usage have been reported, the workaround could trigger further action. NetEase's motivation for banning mods likely stems from potential revenue loss from skin sales, intellectual property concerns, gameplay balance disruption, and potential performance issues. Prafit even suggests their workaround is best suited for high-spec PCs.

Meanwhile, players can explore the Season 1 patch notes, review character win rates, and utilize the latest Marvel Rivals codes for free skins. The community tier list also allows for voting on the strongest characters.
