Slaying monsters is fun, but sometimes you need their parts. Here's how to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds
The process is straightforward. Weaken the monster, trap it, then use a tranquilizer.
Your Palico will alert you when a monster is weak. Other signs include a skull icon above the monster on your minimap, limping, or drooling.
Once weak, set a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap. Lure the monster onto it. Once trapped, quickly throw one or two Tranq Bombs. You can also craft Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades, depending on your weapon and playstyle.
Capturing the monster ends the quest and returns you to Base Camp.
How to Get Traps and Tranq Items
While your Palico might occasionally set traps, it's best to bring your own. There are Pitfall Traps (Trap Tool + Net [Spiderwebs or Ivy]) and Shock Traps (Trap Tool + Thunderbug Capacitor).
For tranquilizers, craft Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. These can be combined with Throwing Knives (Tranq Blades) or Normal Ammo (Tranq Ammo).
