Following the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, it's clear that the collaboration between Nintendo and Xbox will continue to thrive. Phil Spencer, Microsoft's head of gaming, has reiterated his commitment to the Switch platform as a means to connect with gamers who are not typically part of the Xbox ecosystem.

In a recent interview with Variety, Spencer discussed potential projects for the Nintendo Switch 2. He emphasized that just as Xbox has supported the original Switch, the company is eager to extend that support to the Switch 2.

"Nintendo has been a fantastic partner. It provides us with a unique opportunity to engage with players who are not on PC or Xbox," Spencer stated. "This allows us to expand our community and ensure that our franchises reach a broader audience, which is crucial for our ongoing investment in game development."

Play"I truly believe in the value Nintendo brings to the gaming industry, and we are committed to continuing our support for them," Spencer added. "Having Nintendo's support for our franchises is an essential part of our future strategy."

Spencer has consistently praised the Nintendo Switch 2, especially following its initial teaser, where he commended Nintendo's innovative approach. He also confirmed that Xbox intends to expand its game offerings across various platforms, including PlayStation, Steam, and Nintendo's consoles.

When asked by Variety if the Switch 2 reveal had spurred any urgency to unveil Xbox's next console plans, Spencer remained unfazed.

"No. I think everyone in this industry should concentrate on building and nurturing their communities," Spencer remarked. "I'm inspired by the work of many creators and other platform holders. But I have full confidence in our current strategies."

The Xbox executive reaffirmed the company's commitment to making their games accessible on as many platforms as possible, including cloud, PC, and consoles. Titles such as Pentiment and Obsidian's Grounded have already been released on Nintendo platforms, and it will be intriguing to see which Xbox games will be available on the Switch 2 once it launches.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to officially launch on June 5, 2025. While pre-orders have not yet started, keep an eye on our Switch 2 pre-order hub page for the latest updates on when they might become available.
