Pokémon Go marks the debut of Dondozo in the upcoming Sunkissed Shores event

  • Dondozo debuts in raids and wild encounters
  • Regional Oricorio forms and Tatsugiri are available
  • Field Research and Timed Research offer numerous rewards

Niantic is bringing a splash of excitement this summer with the Sunkissed Shores event, running from August 25th through the 31st. The main highlight is Dondozo, the massive blue heavyweight from Paldea, making its Pokémon Go debut in both raids and wild encounters, complete with an immediate chance to find a Shiny variant.

During the Sunkissed Shores event in Pokémon Go, you can catch the Big Catfish Pokémon while earning 2x XP for raid victories. Wild spawns will receive a beach-themed update, increasing the appearance rates of Psyduck, Shellder, Marill, Shuckle, Wingull, and Lechonk. Additionally, all four forms of Oricorio and Alolan Exeggutor may appear occasionally in the wild.

One-star raids will feature region-exclusive Tatsugiri varieties: Curly in Europe, Droopy across the Americas, and Stretchy in Asia-Pacific, along with visor-wearing Slakoth. Three-star raids will showcase Alolan Raichu, Alolan Marowak, and Dondozo itself, all of which have Shiny variants available depending on luck. You can also consult our August Raid schedule to help optimize your training journey!

ytField Research tasks will provide encounters with event Pokémon, while two distinct Timed Research lines offer additional objectives. The free Timed Research rewards players with up to 10,000 XP, 7,000 Stardust, and themed Pokémon encounters. The paid Timed Research ($1.99) includes 3,000 Stardust, two Premium Battle Passes, and encounters featuring visor Slakoth and Dondozo.

For collectors, the Pokémon Go Web Store is introducing limited-time ticket bundles. The Sunkissed Shores Ultra Ticket Box contains an event ticket and three Max Revives for $1.99, while the Berry Chic Ultra Ticket Box offers an event ticket paired with five Ultra Balls at the same price point.

Keep an eye out for Shadow Kyogre as well, which enters Pokémon Go on August 16th during the ongoing Taken Over event. After completing that challenge, get ready for the Max Finale, promising to be a truly spectacular adventure.
