"World of Warcraft Delays Plunderstorm Release"

The eagerly anticipated second Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft has hit a snag, with its launch delayed due to unforeseen issues. Originally set to return on January 14, 2025, with both classic and fresh rewards, fans will need to wait a bit longer to dive back into this pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024. Despite the hiccup, World of Warcraft aims to have Plunderstorm up and running before the end of January 14, though no specific new launch time has been announced yet.

The delay came after an extended maintenance period, initially planned for six hours but stretched to eight, with servers expected to be back online by 3 PM PST. However, as shared by WoW community manager Kaivax on the forums, "unexpected issues" have pushed back the event's start. While the team works to resolve these problems, World of Warcraft's regular servers are back online, allowing players to engage in other in-game activities such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or exploring The War Within.

When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?

The second iteration of Plunderstorm introduces new elements like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. These additions might be the root of the current issues, and the World of Warcraft team is working diligently to fix them so players can resume their plundering adventures soon.

Despite the delay, the excitement around Plunderstorm continues, with new Twitch Drops available. Players can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft stream on Twitch before February 4 at 10 AM PST. Notably, the streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to progress towards this reward, offering fans a way to engage with the community while awaiting the game mode's return.
