Russian scanwords are undoubtedly a unique global phenomenon. No other language features such a wealth of literary questions, witty clues, and references to current global events. All of this is packed into everyday crossword puzzles—an extraordinary feat. The Russian people cherish language; they honor their words and treat them as something precious.

The app offers a variety of scanwords—both simple and complex, with photos, traditional clues, or associative hints: "one word" or "one word, two words," inspired by Elder Fur's style. Each issue contains one English-Russian scanword and one "holey" puzzle—you’ll quickly understand the name. Every page is introduced by a member of our cheerful family. Come join the fun!

All scanwords are free for our readers. This is an annual collection: 52–53 issues, each with 20 scanwords. A full year’s worth will take up about 50 MB of space on your phone—images are small and text is lightweight. We respect your device's storage.

No internet connection is needed to solve puzzles once the issues are downloaded to your phone. A new magazine issue is released every Friday. If you have notifications enabled, you'll receive a weekly reminder at 12:00 local time. New issues download automatically upon opening the app and won't repeat if successful. You can also download or delete individual magazines or use the Settings to download all issues at once.

The app's main features—including access to all scanwords—are free for readers. Advertising sponsors the experience. Each page includes one narrow banner, plus one interstitial ad before opening a scanword. Our advertiser does not disrupt your puzzle-solving flow. They also reward readers with free hints for watching their videos.

Every reader has the option—but not the obligation—to remove advertising by: a) turning off ads permanently, b) subscribing to remove ads for the subscription period and receive unlimited hints, or c) purchasing hints in bulk. All options are available in the Shop.

Privacy Policy:

1) We use the standard Android advertising identifier solely for ad placement and performance analysis. This identifier is only linked to personally identifiable information or persistent device identifiers such as SSAID, MAC address, or IMEI with your explicit consent.
