Alienware Has the Best Price on a GeForce RTX 4090 Prebuilt Gaming PC

Author: Emery May 15,2025

Even though the GeForce RTX 4090 is a generation behind the new Blackwell 50 series GPUs, it remains one of the most powerful graphics cards available, surpassing the performance of the GeForce RTX 5080, RTX 4080 Super, Radeon RX 9070 XT, and RX 7900 XTX. The only GPU that outperforms it is the RTX 5090, which is notoriously difficult to obtain without facing significant price markups.

With the RTX 4090 now discontinued, it's becoming increasingly challenging to find. However, Dell offers two prebuilt gaming PC models featuring the RTX 4090 at competitive prices. The Alienware Aurora R16 starts at $2,999.99, while the Dell Tower Plus begins at $2,849.99. These are currently the best deals for RTX 4090-equipped systems, as other major manufacturers like Lenovo and HP have ceased offering prebuilt PCs with this GPU.

Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4090 Gaming PC

---------------------------------------

Alienware Aurora R16 Intel Core Ultra 7 265F RTX 4090 Gaming PC

Priced at $2,999.99 at Alienware, this Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC comes equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The processor can be upgraded to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, though for gaming-focused setups, the default Intel Core Ultra 7 265F with its 20 cores and a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz is more than sufficient. The system is cooled by a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

Dell Tower Plus RTX 4090 Gaming PC

New Dell Tower Plus Intel Core Ultra 7 265F RTX 4090 Gaming PC

Available for $2,849.99 after a 10% discount at Dell, the Dell Tower Plus gaming PC offers similar specs with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. Upgrading to the Intel Core Ultra 7 285K for an additional $100 is recommended here, as it not only enhances performance but also upgrades the CPU cooling to a more robust "advanced air cooling" system, rated for 125W TDP. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

How does the RTX 4090 stack up against current cards?

-----------------------------------------------------

The RTX 4090 stands as the pinnacle of RTX 40 series GPUs. When compared to the new Blackwell series, it's outdone only by the RTX 5090, which has a $2,000 MSRP. The RTX 4090 can handle any game at 4K resolution, delivering over 60fps with all settings maxed out, including ray tracing, especially when using DLSS. The only area where it, like other GPUs, struggles is path tracing, which is rarely used outside of benchmarking or social media show-offs. The RTX 5090 may offer superior performance, but for most gamers, the RTX 4090's capabilities are more than adequate for top-tier gaming experiences.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU Review by Chris Coke

"The RTX 4090 may be large and costly, but its performance is unparalleled. As the only card from its generation currently available, it's only fair to compare it to older models. With its advanced hardware and DLSS 3 AI technology, the $1,599 price tag feels justified for the exceptional frame rates it delivers."

Alternative: Alienware RTX 5080 Gaming PC for $2,500

Alienware Aurora R16 Intel Core Ultra 7 265F RTX 5080 Gaming PC

Dell offers the Alienware Aurora R16 with the new GeForce RTX 5080 GPU for $2,499.99 shipped. The RTX 5080, one of the new Blackwell graphics cards, is hard to find. In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie notes, "If you already own a high-end graphics card from recent years, the RTX 5080 might not be worth the upgrade due to its marginal performance gain over the RTX 4080. However, the enhanced visuals from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation are a plus in supported games. For those with older GPUs seeking a significant performance boost, the RTX 5080 is a solid choice, especially if you're keen on Nvidia's AI enhancements."
