Kingambit Debuts in Pokémon Go Crown Clash

As you prepare for the Sweet Discoveries event, Pokémon Go is readying its next major event: the Crown Clash. The royal-themed festivities take place from May 10th to 18th, giving you the opportunity to evolve the powerful Kingambit, collect some crowns, and stock up on Shiny Pokémon. You’ll also earn bonus XP for evolving Pokémon throughout the event.

Kingambit, the Big Blade Pokémon, makes its highly anticipated debut in Pokémon Go during the Crown Clash event. To evolve one, you’ll need to have Bisharp set as your Buddy Pokémon and defeat 15 Dark- or Steel-type Pokémon in Raid Battles. Your Bisharp doesn’t need to participate in the battles—just have it as your buddy while you complete the required raids.

Also joining the event are two special costumed Pokémon: Nidoqueen and Nidoking, each sporting a new crown. Their Shiny variants may also appear. These regal Pokémon will feature in three-star raids, while one-star raids will include Sneasel, Klink, and Pawniard.

Plenty of Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild. Look out for increased spawns of Slowpoke (which might be holding a King’s Rock), Slakoth, Piplup, Combee, Snivy, and Litleo. With a little luck, you might also encounter more Pawniard.

Earning double XP for evolving Pokémon makes this the perfect time to work through your evolution backlog. Complete event-themed Field Research tasks and a special catch-and-evolve Collection Challenge to earn additional XP, Stardust, and another chance to catch Pawniard. Trainers Level 31 and above will also receive guaranteed Candy XL for evolution upon completing the challenge.
