It's official: a new chapter in the Avatar universe is on the horizon as Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have announced "Avatar: Seven Havens." To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved series "Avatar: The Last Airbender," creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are bringing fans a fresh 2D animated adventure with a 26-episode series.
"Avatar: Seven Havens" introduces us to a young Earthbender who emerges as the next Avatar after Korra. Set in a world reeling from a devastating cataclysm, this new Avatar finds herself branded not as a savior, but as a potential destroyer of humanity. Pursued by both human and spirit foes, she embarks on a perilous journey with her long-lost twin to unravel their mysterious origins and protect the Seven Havens—the last bastions of civilization.
In a statement, Konietzko and DiMartino expressed their excitement: "When we created the original series, we never imagined we'd still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters."
The series is structured into two seasons, with "Book 1" and "Book 2" each containing 13 episodes. DiMartino and Konietzko are co-creating this project alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast remains under wraps, anticipation is already building for what's next in this iconic saga.
"Avatar: Seven Havens" marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also working on a feature-length animated movie centered around an adult Aang. This film is slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, promising fans a new adventure with the beloved character.
As part of the 20th anniversary festivities, Avatar Studios is rolling out a range of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and a game in Roblox, ensuring that the celebration of this milestone is as expansive and engaging as the Avatar universe itself.
