The series' first arc is currently available for preorder, shipping August 5. The second storyline began with issue #7's fresh interpretation of Mr. Freeze, and now issue #9 delivers an innovative take on classic Batman antagonist Bane. While maintaining his signature luchador physique and Venom enhancements, this version features compelling new motivations and surprising ties to Alfred Pennyworth.

IGN exclusively interviewed Absolute Batman creative team Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta about their reinvention of Bane. Snyder emphasized: "What's non-negotiable? His sheer physicality. We wanted someone who literally overshadows Bruce." The issue also introduces this universe's versions of Dick Grayson (in a pre-Robin phase) and Deathstroke.
