Square Enix has celebrated the 30-year milestone of the iconic JRPG, Chrono Trigger, with exciting news about upcoming projects. These projects, set to be revealed in the coming year, hint at expansions beyond the game itself, sparking widespread speculation and anticipation among fans. Many are eagerly awaiting a long-desired remaster or a modern console release of this beloved title, which has yet to see a full remake or a re-release on PlayStation beyond the 1999 PS1 port.

Chrono Trigger, known for its time-traveling narrative and crafted by a legendary team including Final Fantasy's Hironobu Sakaguchi, Dragon Quest's Yuji Horii, and Dragon Ball's Akira Toriyama, has been available on PC and mobile platforms over the years. However, a definitive modern version remains a dream for many.

To commemorate this significant anniversary, a special concert featuring Chrono Trigger's legendary soundtrack will be streamed live on YouTube. The event is scheduled for March 14th, starting at 7:00 p.m. PT and will continue into the early hours of the next morning.

Originally launched in 1995 for the Super Famicom and SNES, the game follows protagonist Crono and his allies as they traverse different time periods, from a prehistoric era filled with dinosaurs to a dystopian future threatened by an alien force. Players recruit companions, influence historical events, and confront one of gaming's most memorable final bosses.

As we celebrate this 30th anniversary, while there's no confirmed news of a remake or new console port, Square Enix's announcements keep the possibilities open. Stay tuned to Chrono Trigger's official X page for the latest updates on what's in store.
