Dead Rising Revived: Classic Horror Game Set for Revamp

Capcom resurrects the original Dead Rising with a deluxe remaster! Nearly a decade after the last Dead Rising game in 2016, and following the mixed reception of Dead Rising 4, Capcom is giving the original a current-gen refresh. The original 2006 title, initially an Xbox 360 exclusive, received an enhanced port in 2016, but this new Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster promises even better visuals and performance.

While Capcom has showered its Resident Evil franchise with successful remakes and new entries in recent years, the Dead Rising series has remained largely dormant. This remaster, announced via a brief YouTube trailer showcasing Frank West's iconic helicopter jump, suggests a renewed interest in the franchise. Though platforms and a release date are yet to be revealed, a late 2024 launch is anticipated.

Capcom's Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Announcement

This remaster is welcome news for fans, offering a chance to revisit the original game with significantly improved graphics. However, the question remains: will the sequels follow suit? Given Capcom's apparent focus on remasters rather than full-scale remakes, similar to the Resident Evil approach, hopes for extensive overhauls of later Dead Rising titles might be tempered. The company likely sees more financial potential in its proven Resident Evil remake strategy, and juggling two zombie-focused franchises could prove challenging. Despite this, the possibility of a Dead Rising 5 remains a tantalizing prospect.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster joins a growing list of 2024 remasters and remakes, including titles like Persona 3 Reload, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster. If released this year, it will also join other revitalized Xbox 360-era games such as Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP.
