Stop everything — a new teaser for Devil May Cry: The Animated Series has arrived.
Though just a minute long, it offers a tantalizing glimpse of what to expect in Season 2, premiering next year—unfortunately, “2026” is as specific as the release date gets for now.
“Dante vs. Vergil. Brother vs. brother. Devil May Cry: Season 2 premieres 2026, only on Netflix,” reads a post on the official Devil May Cry X/Twitter account, teasing a climactic showdown between the brothers that picks up right after Vergil’s Season 1 introduction. Watch the clip here:

This animated adaptation of Capcom’s beloved Devil May Cry games was brought to life by Adi Shankar, executive producer of Castlevania, exploring the tumultuous relationship between Dante and Vergil. Shankar recently confirmed he’s shifting his focus to the Duke Nukem series after acquiring the screen rights from Gearbox Software.
“Season 2 is a vvvvveryyyyy different show. Yes, Dante levels up,” Shankar stated. “His skills evolve and you’ll see him step into the iconic badassery game fans expect. Still, I’m telling a story—great characters don’t just win, they grow. What makes Dante compelling isn’t being unstoppable, but learning and growing stronger.”
In our review, we scored Devil May Cry Season 1 an 8/10, writing: “Devil May Cry is a fun, if predictable, game adaptation featuring one of the year’s best animated episodes.”
Shankar’s Castlevania Season 1 also earned an 8.1/10 from us back in 2017. He’s currently involved in several other Netflix projects, including the spinoff Castlevania: Nocturne, an Assassin’s Creed series, and even an animated PUBG show.
