Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove the in-game messaging feature, a departure from previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. With each Nightreign session lasting approximately forty minutes, there's insufficient time for players to effectively leave or read messages.
"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there isn't enough time to send or read messages, so we disabled the feature," Ishizaki stated.
This change is noteworthy, as player messaging has been a significant aspect of the FromSoftware experience, enhancing player interaction and enjoyment. However, the development team felt this feature wasn't suitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. It promises a fresh adventure with challenging gameplay and unique encounters, while retaining the distinctive atmosphere and complex world design of Elden Ring.
