Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC receives a balancing update (1.12.2) making it easier, particularly in the early and late stages. While lauded by critics, the DLC's difficulty proved too challenging for some players, leading to review bombing on Steam.
This update directly addresses player feedback regarding difficulty. It significantly boosts the attack power and damage reduction provided by Shadow Realm Blessings (like Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes) in the first half of their enhancement levels. The latter half of the enhancements will see a more gradual increase, and the final enhancement level receives a slight boost as well. This means players should find both the beginning and end of the DLC more manageable.
Bandai Namco even issued a reminder to players to utilize Scadutree Fragments effectively, as many were not taking full advantage of these crucial items found throughout the DLC. These fragments, when used at Sites of Grace, enhance damage output and damage resistance.
The update also fixes a PC-specific bug where ray tracing automatically activates when loading saves from previous game versions, a known cause of framerate issues. Players experiencing instability are advised to manually disable ray tracing in the graphics settings.
Future updates are planned to address additional bugs and implement further balance adjustments.
