Engineers to Care for Grogu in New Mandalorian Update for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run - Star Wars Celebration

Author: David May 13,2025

Star Wars Celebration unveiled thrilling new details for the upcoming *The Mandalorian and Grogu*-themed update for *Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run*, set to coincide with the release of the new movie. This update promises an immersive experience with exciting new features, including the ability for Engineers to care for Grogu. Alongside familiar locales like Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor, players will also explore the bustling metropolis of Coruscant in this choose-your-own-adventure-style storyline.

Set to launch on May 22, 2026, this update will diverge from the plot of *The Mandalorian & Grogu* movie but will still prominently feature both Din Djarin and Grogu. The narrative kicks off with Hondo Ohnaka discovering a covert deal between ex-Imperial officers and pirates on Tatooine. This sets the stage for a high-stakes galactic chase, where guests will collaborate with Mando and Grogu to pursue the bounty across the galaxy in a dynamic adventure.

Although complete details are still forthcoming, it's clear that the Engineer role will be significantly enhanced, as they will be responsible for Grogu's well-being. This adds a new layer of engagement to the experience.

To provide further insight, we had the opportunity to speak with Asa Kalama from Walt Disney Imagineering. He shared more about what fans can anticipate from this update:

"Throughout the mission, we're going to be giving the engineers the opportunity to actually get to communicate with Grogu," Kalama explained. "We think it's going to be a lot of fun. There may be times when Mando has to leave the Razor Crest, and Grogu, left to his own devices, might get a bit mischievous on the control panel. We love the idea of these fun little vignettes and moments where you're essentially on the comm with Grogu."

Regarding the choose-your-own-adventure element, Kalama added, "There will be a critical moment in your adventure where you are pressed for time and must make a swift decision about which bounty to pursue. This will be the inciting incident that determines which destinations you'll visit."
