Environmental MMO Orna Promotes Sustainability

Orna, the fantasy RPG and GPS MMO from Northern Forge Studios, is launching Terra's Legacy, a unique in-game event tackling real-world environmental pollution. From September 9th to 19th, players will combat pollution-themed enemies and contribute to real-world cleanup efforts.

Combating Pollution, In-Game and Out

Terra's Legacy merges virtual gameplay with real-world environmental action. Players will identify polluted or littered locations in their real-world surroundings and submit them through the Orna app. Northern Forge will then transform these locations into in-game "Gloomsites," representing the impact of pollution.

At these Gloomsites, players battle the Murk, a pollution-themed enemy, reminiscent of iconic environmental heroes like Nausicaä or Princess Mononoke. Defeating the Murk raises awareness and allows players to plant virtual trees and grow Gaia apples in the corresponding real-world locations. These apples can customize characters and enhance magical abilities, and can be harvested by other players, fostering community involvement.

Terra's Legacy is Orna's contribution to the Green Game Jam 2024, an annual event uniting game developers worldwide to promote environmental consciousness through interactive experiences.
