Ex-Nintendo PR Managers Furious Over Switch 2 Leaks

Recent leaks about the Nintendo Switch 2 have caused significant disruption within Nintendo of America, according to two former staff members, Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang. These leaks have included alleged reveal dates, games slated for the next-generation console, and even mockups of the device. Images of the Switch 2's motherboard and Joy-Con have also surfaced online, fueling fan speculation. Nintendo has labeled these mockups and images as "unofficial."

In a video on their YouTube channel, Ellis and Yang, both former PR managers at Nintendo, shared insights into the internal impact of these leaks. Drawing from their extensive experience at the company, they highlighted the chaos and frustration these leaks have caused. Yang emphasized the severity of the situation, describing how upset Nintendo executives are likely to be, with internal communications reaching a fever pitch. "It's a highly chaotic situation in there right now and a real pressure cooker," Yang stated, underscoring the added stress on staff as they navigate leak investigations alongside regular duties.

Ellis acknowledged Nintendo's robust investigative team, expressing confidence that the source of the leaks would eventually be uncovered. However, both agreed that these leaks are severely disrupting Nintendo's efforts to launch the new console, which is already a challenging endeavor. The leaks may also diminish the company's ability to surprise its fans, affecting the overall impact of the official announcement.

Addressing speculation that Nintendo might be orchestrating the leaks, Ellis and Yang firmly dismissed the notion. They stressed Nintendo's commitment to the element of surprise, with Ellis recounting mandatory lectures on the topic. "Nintendo did not do this on purpose," he affirmed, highlighting the company's dedication to keeping product details under wraps until the official reveal.

As a result of the leaks, Nintendo is likely to reassess its product security measures. Given that it has been eight years since the original Switch's launch, the company's processes for hardware reveals may require updates to prevent future breaches.
