A Pokémon player's popularity has reached a new level – two NPCs are relentlessly calling their in-game phone. A short video shows the player trapped, bombarded with repeated calls.
Pokémon Gold and Silver introduced the feature of receiving calls from certain NPCs after battles. These calls can range from friendly updates to rematch requests. However, this player's game is experiencing a glitch, resulting in an endless cycle of calls from two enthusiastic trainers.
Pokémon enthusiast FodderWadder shared a video showcasing their predicament. The video begins with a call from Wade the Bug Catcher, followed immediately by Youngster Joey. The calls repeat endlessly; Joey's rematch offer and Wade's training updates cycle back-to-back.
The relentless calls aren't a typical occurrence. While Youngster Joey's calls are known for being repetitive, this level of persistence is unusual. FodderWadder suspects a save file glitch. Other players found the situation humorous, suggesting the NPCs are simply eager to chat.
Though players can delete phone numbers in Pokémon Gold and Silver, the game automatically answers incoming calls. FodderWadder eventually escaped the call loop, but only after struggling to find a moment to access the menu, delete the numbers, and leave the Pokémon Center. The experience has made them hesitant to register new numbers in the future.
