God of War Ragnarok Celebrates Franchise's 20-Year Anniversary With Dark Odyssey Cosmetic Update Next Week

Sony and Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting update for God of War Ragnarök set to launch next week. This update, themed around one of the franchise's most iconic outfits, will be available to all God of War Ragnarök players on PlayStation 5 and PC as a free update on March 20.

The PlayStation.Blog post detailed Sony's plans for celebrating the 20th anniversary of the God of War series, with Dark Odyssey being a standout feature. The collection introduces a sleek, black-and-gold aesthetic for Kratos, Atreus, and Freya, as well as various shields and weapons. This new look promises to enhance the visual appeal of characters as they navigate the realms of Norse mythology.

The highlight of the Dark Odyssey collection is the armor set and appearance for Kratos, which pays homage to a skin previously exclusive to players who completed God of War 2 on God Mode difficulty. Players can access this coveted content through any Lost Items chest in the base game or directly in the roguelike Valhalla mode post-update. Additionally, the update will allow players to customize Kratos' weapons' appearances without impacting their abilities, adding a new layer of personalization to the gameplay.
