Tango Gameworks Hires for New Action IP

Tango Gameworks, acclaimed developers of Hi-Fi Rush, has launched a refreshed website confirming development of a new unannounced action title. The studio's revamped site features updated branding and recruitment postings for positions related to this mystery project.

A New Chapter Begins

The website outlines Tango Gameworks' mission to "create innovative games and expand intellectual properties" as a "Tokyo-based independent studio" operating under Krafton's umbrella. This comes following dramatic developments earlier this year.

In May 2024, Microsoft shuttered multiple Bethesda studios, including Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin (developers of Redfall). The decision sparked widespread outcry from both developers and fans - particularly notable given Xbox executive Aaron Greenberg had previously hailed Hi-Fi Rush as meeting "all key metrics and player expectations."

Krafton, publisher of PUBG, stepped in to acquire Tango Gameworks and the Hi-Fi Rush IP from Microsoft in August 2024, preserving the studio from dissolution. Krafton's announcement emphasized plans to "collaborate with Xbox and ZeniMax to ensure seamless continuity" while enabling Tango to "continue evolving Hi-Fi Rush and exploring future projects."

"After this period of transition, Tango Gameworks returns with renewed vision," states the studio's new website. "Through this platform, we're sharing insights into our creative philosophy and featuring perspectives from our development team."

The studio describes its approach as prioritizing "artisanal craftsmanship," aiming to preserve the "handcrafted quality that defines our work."

While remaining tight-lipped about specifics, Tango confirmed active recruitment across multiple disciplines for this "unannounced action game." Today's announcement notes they "aren't prepared to share details yet," but job listings provide intriguing clues.

The studio seeks senior designers with "Unreal Engine 5 experience developing 3D action titles," while cutscene manager positions similarly request action game expertise. Speculation continues whether this signals development of Hi-Fi Rush 2 or an entirely new IP.
