Unlike other weapons in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, the bow demands you keep an eye on your stamina bar. Every attack you execute will consume stamina, with light attacks using less and charged attacks taking a significant toll.

To execute a basic attack, simply left-click on your mouse or press the R2/RT button on your controller. For those looking to diversify their approach, there are various combos available, such as Dragon Piercer or Thousand Dragons. Below is a comprehensive list of controls for using the bow:

If you're new to the bow, spending some time in the training ground is highly recommended. It's the perfect place to experiment with combos and familiarize yourself with the controls. It's not wise to engage monsters in combat without a solid grasp of your weapon.

Attack Monster’s Weak Spots

A significant advantage of the bow is the ability to target a monster's weak points with precision. Utilizing Focus Fire: Hailstorm, your arrows will automatically lock onto these vulnerable areas. Once you focus your sight, red markers will appear on the enemy, signaling where to aim. Simply hold down Shift or R1/RB to lock onto these targets and maximize your damage output.

Use Coatings

Coatings are a crucial aspect of using the bow effectively in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. These special concoctions can be applied to your arrows to enhance their effects. Your character automatically generates coatings as you hit enemies with regular arrows, so no crafting is necessary. Keep an eye on the blue gauge in the bottom right corner of your screen.

To apply coatings, continue using regular attacks until the gauge is full. Then, press R, Triangle, or Y to coat your arrows. Each bow can only utilize two types of coatings at a time. Here's a rundown of the available coatings:

  • Power Coating – Boosts the overall damage of your arrows.
  • Pierce Coating – Enhances the Dragon Piercer ability to pierce through armor.
  • Close-Range Coating – Increases damage output at close range.
  • Paralysis Coating – Gradually inflicts Paralysis on the target.
  • Exhaust Coating – Slowly causes Stun and Exhaustion.
  • Sleep Coating – Gradually induces Sleep.
  • Poison Coating – Slowly inflicts Poison.
  • Blast Coating – Gradually inflicts Blast damage.

Use Tracer Arrow

The Tracer Arrow is another handy tool in your bow arsenal. When you shoot this special arrow, it adheres to a monster for a limited duration, causing subsequent arrows to home in on the tracer. This is particularly useful for creating weak points on a monster. Be mindful, however, as using a Tracer Arrow consumes some of your coating points, preventing you from using it excessively.
