Universal Pictures has unveiled the first captivating image from Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated film, "The Odyssey," showcasing Hollywood star Matt Damon in the iconic role of Odysseus. This marks Nolan's latest project following the phenomenal success of his 2023 biopic, "Oppenheimer," and offers a fresh take on the timeless Ancient Greek epic poem, originally penned in the 8th or 7th century BC. "The Odyssey" is set to premiere in theaters on July 17, 2026.

Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.

"The Odyssey" chronicles the epic journey of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, as he embarks on a decade-long quest to return home following the Trojan War. While Universal has kept further details under wraps, emerging reports are beginning to unveil the impressive ensemble cast that will join Damon in this cinematic adventure.

Matt Damon, who was the first actor reported to be in negotiations for Nolan's next film, returns to Universal after starring in "Oppenheimer," which clinched seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.
