Ahmed Alameen, a talented writer and filmmaker, is set to launch his debut point-and-click adventure game, My Father Lied, on May 30th. This solo-developed, narrative-driven puzzle game draws inspiration from the rich tapestry of Mesopotamian history, offering players an engaging experience filled with mystery and intrigue.
In My Father Lied, you step into the shoes of Huda, a young woman on a quest to uncover the truth behind her father's disappearance, which occurred two decades ago. The journey begins when Huda learns of a brother she never knew existed, a secret her father kept hidden. As Huda, players will navigate through a world filled with puzzles, piecing together images, cracking codes, and exploring hauntingly beautiful environments that blend elements reminiscent of Myst, Heaven's Vault, and the chilling narratives of H.P. Lovecraft.
Originally, Alameen collaborated with a college classmate on the project, serving as the narrative designer. When the partnership dissolved, Alameen's determination led him to dive deeper into game design, enabling him to complete the project single-handedly. His innovative approach to the game's visuals stands out, utilizing both 2D and 360-degree images, including frame-by-frame crafted cutscenes. This method not only delivers high-quality visuals but ensures the game runs smoothly on low-end PCs.
My Father Lied will be available for purchase on the App Store, Google Play, and for PC via Steam at a price of $10.99/€10.99. While it's not yet available for pre-registration on mobile devices, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist now.
