Metaphor: ReFantazio has a chance to become a series - game director

Hashino recently revealed his desire to develop a game set during Japan's Sengoku period, envisioning it as a compelling setting for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Regarding the future of Metaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino confirmed there are no immediate plans for a sequel. His focus remains on completing the current project, which he originally conceived as a flagship title for Atlus, following in the footsteps of the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series. While an anime adaptation is under consideration, a direct sequel is currently not on the development roadmap.

Metaphor: ReFantazio has achieved remarkable success, boasting a peak concurrent player count exceeding 85,961—significantly outperforming Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). The game's availability across PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 platforms has contributed to its widespread appeal.
