If Season 5 of MultiVersus doesn't perform well, it might mark the end of the game. AusilMV, a well-known insider for game leaks, has shared this concerning rumor. According to his reliable source, Season 5 represents a last-ditch effort to revive the game's fortunes. While it's still just a rumor, the situation appears dire.
When MultiVersus launched in 2022, it enjoyed explosive success, reaching a peak of 153,000 players on Steam. However, the player base soon plummeted by 99%, prompting Warner Bros. Games to shut down the project in June 2023, labeling it as an "open beta test." Despite a return in May 2024 with updates, the game struggled to recapture its initial popularity.
The fifth season, set to begin in early February, could be the developers' final opportunity to reignite player interest. Essentially, this is a relaunch for MultiVersus, though the developers have chosen to refer to the 2022 release as a "beta." Despite the initial enthusiasm from players, the decision to temporarily shut down the game in June 2023, announced in March of that year, left many fans disappointed, particularly those who had purchased the premium edition to support the developers.
