If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential *Part 3* video game, you might want to brace yourself for some disappointing news. Neil Druckmann, the mastermind behind the series, has recently thrown cold water on any expectations that *The Last of Us Part 3* is in development...or might ever be.
In an extensive interview with Variety, Druckmann focused primarily on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series. However, when pressed about the possibility of a *Part 3*, he offered a rather definitive response:
“I was waiting for this question,” he sighed. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”
This statement naturally leaves fans wondering whether to take Druckmann at his word. Currently, Naughty Dog is fully engaged with their new project, *Intergalactic*, unveiled at The Game Awards last December. With no release window in sight, it's clear that *Intergalactic* will occupy the studio's attention for years to come, making the immediate development of *The Last of Us Part 3* highly unlikely. Druckmann's comments could be a strategic deflection, or perhaps he genuinely isn't ready to commit to another installment. Only time will tell if his stance changes or remains final.
For those still yearning for more *The Last of Us*, the television adaptation offers a glimmer of hope. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann himself is uncertain about how many seasons will be needed to cover the story of *Part 2*, an HBO executive suggested in February that four seasons might be the ideal number to fully explore the narrative.
