Sonic Rumble Tests Crossovers With Monkey Ball, Altered Beast

  • Sonic Rumble is gearing up for a pre-release crossover event
  • Characters from Altered Beast, Fantasy Zone, and Super Monkey Ball will all make appearances
  • Some characters will be free to claim, while others can be purchased in-game

Although the worldwide launch date is still approaching (specifically May 8th), Sonic Rumble isn’t waiting to kick off its debut crossover event. And this isn't just any outside collaboration—oh no, because top Sega characters from the past and present are joining the fray!

Interestingly, this crossover event kicks off before the global release, presumably available to players in soft launch regions. Starting today and running through May 7th, you can claim the Werewolf character—inspired by the classic Altered Beast—for free.

Meanwhile, subscribers to the Sega Star Event Pass can unlock another Altered Beast-inspired character, the Weredragon, plus Sega's original mascot Opa-Opa from the arcade hit Fantasy Zone.

ytLucky you

That’s not all: additional characters like Upa-Upa and the Werebear will be offered in the in-game Ring Shop, while the Red Star Ring Shop brings Super Monkey Ball favorites AiAi and MeeMee!

Hosting such an event ahead of the official launch may seem unusual, but those with early access during soft launch are surely eager to unlock these characters.

This likely isn't the last we'll see of them, either. Sega has stated this is just the beginning of a busy schedule filled with crossovers and collaborations planned for Sonic Rumble.
