Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
Square Enix marked NieR's 15th Anniversary with a plethora of announcements, showcasing upcoming events and projects. During the livestream on April 19, they introduced the online Special Novel titled [U]ndecided Option.
This novel will see three updates: the first is already available, while the subsequent updates are scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's synopsis teases an intriguing plot: "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
In addition to the novel, Square Enix has launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, which will serve as the hub for the online special novel and other upcoming projects and events celebrating the anniversary.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an engaging exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. More details on tickets and other event specifics will be shared soon.
The NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 will expand with additional performances in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are available through a lottery system, with more information accessible on the concert's official website.
A range of new merchandise has been unveiled, including an album featuring newly recorded studio jazz arrangements from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set to release in December 2024. Additionally, the NieR Weapon Story book will delve into over 650 stories about the weapons from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, alongside scale figures of the series' protagonists.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
Starting April 28, NieR Re[in]carnation, the first mobile title in the NieR series, will launch a monthly developer blog series, running through the rest of the year. These updates will offer insights into the development process behind Re[in]carnation.
Originally released in January 2021, the game was unfortunately shut down in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. The sudden launch of a developer blog for a discontinued game has sparked speculation among fans about a potential sequel or remake, though no official word has been given yet.
The livestream concluded with an over 20-minute live performance, featuring soundtracks from across the NieR franchise. Square Enix promises more exciting announcements for NieR fans, with additional events and merchandise on the horizon.
