In NieR: Automata, the journey to upgrade your weapons and pod involves gathering a variety of crafting materials. While many of these become more accessible as you progress, securing them early can significantly boost your character's strength from the outset.
Among these materials, Machine Arms stand out as particularly elusive. Despite their name suggesting abundance, they are scarce and often require dedicated farming, especially early in the game. Here's where you can start your search.
Where To Farm Machine Arms In NieR: Automata
Machine Arms can drop from any small machine you destroy, but the drop rate is influenced by the enemy's level. At the game's start, these drops are rare, so you'll need to take down a high volume of machines to increase your chances.
Post-Chapter 4, after your initial encounter with Adam, you'll discover a pit where enemies spawn continuously. To reach this spot, use fast travel to the Desert: Housing Complex access point and venture deeper into the ruins. In this pit, small machines spawn every few seconds, replacing those you've defeated. Although these machines are low-level, thus yielding a lower drop rate for Machine Arms, the constant spawn makes this the most efficient early-game farming location. It's also an excellent spot for farming Titanium Alloy.
To slightly enhance your drop rates, consider equipping a Drop Rate Plug-In Chip.
