Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Will Be a Paid Tour of Your New Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo has unveiled the Switch 2 Welcome Tour, a unique digital game set to launch alongside the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. This isn't your typical pack-in software; instead, it's a separate, paid digital game designed to guide users through the new hardware's features in an engaging way.

During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Switch 2 Welcome Tour was described as a "virtual exhibition" of the new console. According to Nintendo, "through tech demos, minigames, and other interactions, players will get to know the new system inside and out in ways they may never have known about otherwise." The showcased footage featured a player avatar navigating a larger-than-life Switch 2, exploring its features and learning about its capabilities. The game functions like a virtual museum but includes interactive elements such as minigames like Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo.

Nintendo confirmed via stream and press release that the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop starting on the Switch 2's launch day. While this tool is innovative, fans have expressed curiosity about its status as a paid digital-only game rather than a complimentary pack-in with the console. As of now, no specific price has been announced.

For context, the Switch 2 will also launch with titles like Mario Kart World, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Deltarune Chapters 1 through 4. While the Switch 2 Welcome Tour offers an intriguing showcase of the new console, it will need to compete for consumer spending amidst a crowded launch lineup.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to hit the market on June 5, 2025, with a price of $449.99 USD, or $499.99 for the bundle that includes Mario Kart World.
