During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled exciting news for fans: nearly the entire Nintendo Switch game library will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2. Even more thrilling, select titles are receiving upgraded "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" versions, complete with enhanced features. Among these are fan-favorites such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Mario Party: Jamboree.

Each of these Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games comes with unique enhancements tailored to the game. Kicking off the showcase was Super Mario Party: Jamboree, which introduces "Jamboree TV" — an upgrade featuring mouse controls, audio recognition, enhanced rumble effects, and innovative gameplay utilizing a new camera accessory.

PlayFollowing this, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom were highlighted, both set to receive improved resolution, framerate, and HDR support. Additionally, they will benefit from a new service within the Nintendo Switch Online app, named Zelda Notes. This feature offers voice guidance to locate Shrines and Koroks, along with the ability to share creations in Tears of the Kingdom using QR codes with friends.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is also getting a significant upgrade with a new story exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 titled Star-Crossed World, complemented by enhanced graphics and framerates.

New titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A are not left behind, with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond offering mouse control capabilities and stunning 4K visuals at 60fps with HDR, while Pokemon Legends: Z-A will boast improved resolution and framerates.

These upgraded versions will be available in both physical and digital formats. For those who already own the original games on the Switch, upgrade packs will be available for purchase for Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Party, and Kirby.
