First Released in 2006
Originally crafted by Bethesda Game Studios and co-published by Bethesda Softworks and 2K Games, Oblivion was initially slated for release as an Xbox 360 launch title in late 2005. However, due to unforeseen development delays, the game saw its Xbox 360 and PC versions hit the shelves in March 2006.
A mobile version, developed by Superscape and published by Vir2L Studios, followed in May 2006. The PlayStation 3 iteration made its debut in North America in March 2007, with a European release shortly after in April 2007. Plans for a PSP version were in the works but were eventually scrapped. Over the years, various bundled editions were released, pairing Oblivion with other notable titles like Fallout 3 and BioShock.
Recent leaks from developer Virtuos' website have added fuel to the excitement, featuring promotional art and comparisons between the original and the remastered versions of Oblivion. It’s been revealed that the remaster will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S (including availability on Game Pass), and PC.
Rumors are also circulating about a Deluxe Edition that might come with bonus weapons and a horse armor DLC pack. While these remain unconfirmed by Bethesda, fans won't have to wait long to find out more. The official reveal during Bethesda’s upcoming livestream for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered promises to shed light on all these details and more.
