DC Studios boss James Gunn has exciting news for fans, confirming that Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere on Max on August 21. In a tweet, Gunn shared his enthusiasm, stating that the Season 2 premiere is "one of my favorite things ever." Accompanying this announcement, a brief clip was released showcasing John Cena in action, with a smirk directed at the camera amidst a backdrop of raging fire. In the footage, Peacemaker is referred to as "a superhero now."

Peacemaker Season 2 follows closely on the heels of the July 11 release of Superman, marking the official start of Gunn's rebooted DC Universe (DCU). This series will be the third entry in the new DCU, following the Creature Commandos TV series from last year and the upcoming Superman movie this summer.
The new cinematic universe, spearheaded by Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran, departs from the previously criticized DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements will carry over into the new DCU. Peacemaker serves as a prime example of this transition, having debuted in the DCEU with its first season, and now continuing into the new DCU with its second.
Gunn has previously stated that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," although the specifics of what will transition from the DCEU to the DCU remain undisclosed. He has confirmed that the entire **Team Peacemaker** will return with the same actors, including **John Cena** in the starring role, alongside **Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.**, **Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase**, and **Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo**.Moreover, Gunn has revealed that the events of Peacemaker Season 2 will take place after the occurrences in Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly influencing the storyline of Peacemaker.
