On November 26, 2024, The Pokémon Company shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest unboxing livestream in celebration of the latest Pokémon TCG expansion, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks. This marathon event was live-streamed on Pokémon's Twitch channel, lasting over 24 hours.
The stream was hosted by renowned internet personalities, including Serebii's Joe Merrick, and influencers PokeGirl Ranch and Mayplaystv. Together, they opened 1,500 booster packs and unwrapped various Pokémon products, culminating in an impressive collection of over 20,000 cards, as reported by Pokémon’s Official Press website.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in the achievement, stating, “It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators.”
Following the event, Pokémon enthusiasts can look forward to more excitement. The Official Press website hints at upcoming product giveaways on content creators' channels in the next two weeks. Moreover, the cards amassed during the livestream will be organized into binders and donated to charities, such as Barnardo’s in the UK, in time for the holiday season.
