These critically acclaimed games, known for their innovative features, arrived in the West the following year and in Europe in 2001. A groundbreaking in-game time system tracked the current time and day, influencing Pokémon appearances and events. Furthermore, Gold and Silver introduced 100 new Pokémon (Gen 2), including beloved favorites like Pichu, Cleffa, Hoothoot, Chikorita, Umbreon, Ho-Oh, and Lugia. The games received a well-loved 10th-anniversary remake, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, for the Nintendo DS in 2009.
