The new Ratatan gameplay trailer offers an exciting glimpse into the game's mechanics, highlighted by a thrilling battle against a giant boss crab. During IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, Ratatan Works, the game's developer, released this eagerly awaited trailer.

The trailer beautifully showcases Ratatan's unique blend of rhythm roguelike action, fusing rhythm gameplay with side-scrolling action. One of the standout features is the online co-op mode, allowing up to 4 players to team up. Players can also control up to 100 characters in massive melee battles, adding depth to the strategic gameplay.

Ratatan is crafted by the visionary team of Hiroyuki Kotani, the creator of Patapon, and Kemmei Adachi, the original Patapon musician. Launched on Kickstarter in 2023, the campaign has successfully met its console launch stretch goal, ensuring a release on various consoles.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

Mark your calendars: Ratatan's closed beta is set to commence on February 27, 2025. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared valuable insights on the game's recent achievements and upcoming events via their Kickstarter page.

The game has impressively surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and garnered positive feedback on their Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. While Ratatan won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the development team is focusing their efforts on perfecting the closed beta experience. They aim to deliver an enhanced demo for the Steam Next festival scheduled for June.

Sakajiri outlined what players can anticipate from the closed beta. The initial build will include up to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 being added progressively throughout the month-long test period. He also noted that details regarding code distribution, the start date, and time will be shared through Discord and X once finalized.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While an exact release date remains under wraps, the anticipation continues to build.
