A remake of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion will have big changes to game mechanics

MP1st has uncovered intriguing details about a rumored The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake, sourced not from industry insiders, but from the anonymized portfolio of a former Virtuos Studios developer. This suggests a substantial undertaking, leveraging Unreal Engine 5 to completely reimagine the classic RPG.

The portfolio reveals a planned overhaul of core mechanics. Expect significant changes to stamina management, stealth mechanics, attack blocking (drawing inspiration from Soulslike games to address the original's perceived shortcomings), archery, damage reactions, and the user interface. The damage system will be recalculated for more impactful visual feedback, and stamina is slated for improved usability. UI and archery systems will also receive modernizations.

MP1st speculates that this project, initially possibly conceived as a remaster (as hinted by leaked Microsoft documents), has evolved into a full-fledged remake.

While sources confirm the remake won't appear at the upcoming Developer_Direct, rumors suggest a potential release within the year.
