Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Launch Date Revealed

Author: Joseph May 02,2025

Get ready, Sonic fans! The blue blur is racing back to the big screen with Sonic the Hedgehog 4, scheduled to hit theaters on March 19, 2027. Paramount has officially locked in the date, giving us just two years to wait before we see Sonic in action once more. While details on the plot and cast remain under wraps, the anticipation is already building.

The decision to greenlight another film comes on the heels of the success of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which raked in an impressive $218 million at the domestic box office and over $420 million worldwide. This latest installment not only set a new record as the highest-grossing Sonic film to date, surpassing the first movie's $148 million, but it also overcame early design controversies that were later addressed in post-production.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 also secured its place as the second highest-grossing video game movie in North America, just behind the animated Super Mario Bros. Movie. This success reignites the iconic rivalry between Nintendo and Sega, now playing out on the cinematic stage.

The live-action Sonic franchise has been on a steady rise, now boasting three feature films and a Knuckles streaming TV show spinoff. Based on the beloved Sega video game series, the movies feature Sonic, voiced by Ben Schwartz, battling his arch-nemesis Dr. Robotnik, portrayed by Jim Carrey. Each film has expanded the universe, introducing fan-favorite characters like Tails (voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and Knuckles (voiced by Idris Elba), with the latest entry bringing Shadow the Hedgehog to life, voiced by Keanu Reeves.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has already teased the introduction of another new character to the franchise, but we'll keep that under wraps for now.
