IDW's acclaimed Sonic the Hedgehog comic series recently celebrated a significant achievement with the release of its 75th issue. Sonic the Hedgehog #75 concluded the intense battle between Team Sonic and the formidable villain Clutch, setting the stage for the gripping follow-up arc titled "Scattered Pieces."
"Scattered Pieces" will continue to unfold across Sonic the Hedgehog issues #76 through #80. With issue #76 already available in stores, IGN has the exclusive privilege of showcasing new artwork from the penultimate chapter of this storyline during IGN Fan Fest. Fans can explore a slideshow gallery featuring three stunning covers for Sonic the Hedgehog #79, in addition to the previously unveiled "Scattered Pieces" covers.
Penned by the series' mainstay writer, Ian Flynn, Sonic the Hedgehog #79 will showcase the talents of Adam Bryce Thomas for both the interior artwork and the main cover. Additionally, variant covers will be crafted by Tyler Mcgrath and Nathalie Fourdraine.
IDW offers the following official synopsis for Sonic the Hedgehog #79:
*The long-standing rivalry between ace sniper Whisper and the sinister assassin Mimic reaches its climactic showdown!*
*Only one of these former comrades will emerge victorious! Can Tangle and Silver help sway the battle's outcome? Or will Whisper endure the pain of another friend caught in the crossfire? Brace yourself for a thrilling battle years in the making!*
Ian Flynn shared his insights with IGN, stating, "IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog has thrived for seven years, developing its unique storylines, characters, and narrative arcs. Evan Stanley's latest arc brought many of these elements to a head. Reaching a story’s climax is exhilarating, but I'm equally excited to delve into the aftermath. Fans will be eager to know 'What happens next?' My arc not only answers this question but also wraps up some of my own storylines while laying the groundwork for Evan's next major arc."
Sonic the Hedgehog #76 is currently available in stores, and fans can look forward to issue #77, set to release on March 19. Preorders for the upcoming issue are available at your local comic shop (click here to find your local shop).
