Disney is reportedly developing a secret Star Wars horror project, as revealed by Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy.
The creative mastermind behind Lucasfilm's latest acclaimed production discussed the studio's upcoming plans in a recent interview with Business Insider. When questioned about approaching a darker Star Wars narrative, he hinted that Disney already has such a project underway.
"They're doing that. I think they're doing that," Gilroy confirmed regarding the horror venture. "I believe that's currently in development."

If true, this would mark Star Wars' first serious exploration of horror themes on screen, though details remain mysterious. The project could take shape as a series, film, or an entirely new format, with no confirmation about its creative leadership. While concrete information might take years to emerge, Gilroy's remarks confirm Disney is at least considering darker Star Wars content.
"With the right creator, perfect timing, and appropriate tone...anything becomes possible," Gilroy added, reflecting on his Andor experience. "My hope is that our show's success creates momentum for others to pursue bold new directions in this universe."
A truly terrifying Star Wars horror project has been a persistent fan fantasy - shared even by Mark Hamill - for years.
