Ubisoft had previously confirmed Star Wars: Outlaws as a future title for the Nintendo Switch 2, but today's update reveals the space-faring adventure won't be available at the console's June 5 launch, instead arriving several months later on September 4.

For those who haven't experienced it on PS5, Xbox or PC, Star Wars Outlaws is set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, following the story of Kay Vess - a petty criminal who crosses the wrong cartel and earns a deadly bounty. Our review scored it a 7, describing it as "an enjoyable galactic crime caper with strong exploration elements, though hampered by basic stealth mechanics, repetitive combat and several technical issues at launch."

Beyond reconfirming the Switch 2 release date, Ubisoft offered limited additional details, but the announcement does let us update the Switch 2 Games List. With North American players facing pre-order uncertainty due to newly implemented tariffs under consideration by the Republican administration, any updates about upcoming Switch 2 releases provide a welcome distraction.

The announcement came during a Star Wars Celebration panel in Japan, where Ubisoft also previewed the game's second story expansion, A Pirate's Fortune. This DLC will see Kay Vess team up with fan-favorite scoundrel Hondo Ohnaka to confront Stinger Tash, leader of the notorious Rokana Raiders. Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate's Fortune launches May 15.
