"Strategies to Overcome Zhang Jiao in Dynasty Warriors: Origins"

One of the first real challenges that players will encounter in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* is the battle against Zhang Jiao, the leader of the Yellow Turbans. Here's a detailed guide on how to defeat him effectively.

How To Fight Zhang Jiao’s First Phase

In the first phase, you'll face Zhang Jiao one-on-one in a vast wasteland. He uses sorcery to hurl stones at you. When you're close, he'll summon four stones, requiring quick evasion to avoid damage. If you're at a distance, he'll throw twice as many stones in sets of two, which you can easily dodge by running around him. It's crucial to maintain a safe distance when he summons a large number of stones to prevent taking heavy damage.

While most of Zhang Jiao's attacks are designed to keep you at bay, he also has close-range moves. These include basic combos that you can parry, and an Area of Effect (AOE) attack that will push you back. Watch for him glowing white, which signals the AOE attack; back off to avoid damage.

As the battle progresses, Zhang Jiao will employ attacks with a red aura, which cannot be interrupted. These involve summoning numerous rocks and creating clones. The best strategy here is to retreat until his attack concludes before resuming your offensive. Equip a sword for this phase, as it deals more damage compared to spears or gauntlets.

Keep a close eye on your health. You'll likely have four healing opportunities, depending on your skill upgrades. Remember, there are jars near the arena entrance containing meat buns. Use these to heal by retreating to the entrance during Zhang Jiao's attacks.

How To Fight Zhang Jiao’s Second Phase

Once you unlock Musou Rage, the second phase begins with the Yellow Turbans joining Zhang Jiao. Fortunately, your army will also arrive to assist you, giving you some respite. This is an ideal time to heal by grabbing meat buns from the entrance. Be cautious of the tornados Zhang Jiao summons, which can throw you off course while you're fighting his soldiers.

Zhang Jiao will initiate a Grand Tactic after you defeat enough of his troops, requiring you to eliminate 300 soldiers within a tight timeframe to avoid a devastating attack. To complicate matters, he'll summon lightning to strike the arena. Keep an eye on the ground for closing rings that signal incoming strikes and evade when they flash. Utilize Musou Mode to efficiently clear large numbers of enemies at once. Although Musou Rage Mode is available, sticking to the basic Musou Mode is more effective given the time constraints.

After thwarting Zhang Jiao's Grand Tactic twice, he'll return to the battlefield with the same tactics from the first phase. With your army's help, defeating him should be straightforward, allowing you to end Chapter 1 victoriously.

And that's how to conquer Zhang Jiao in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.
